    Attending the Indigenous people sunrise ceremony this year. Also known as Unthanksgiving Day on Alcatraz Island.

    Ar Pier 33 dozens of people gather together in a tradition 4 decades in the making. On Nov. 20 1969 American Indians from all tribes claimed Alcatraz Island as their land. For almost two years the people could not be moved. They built homes, gathered as one nation, and took back the land of their ancestors according to Richard Oakes.

    Now, 40 years later, the people gather together once again to honor the memory of those people and all that they stood for. Held on what some indigenous people call “Unthanksgiving Day”, the Sunrise Ceremony is an event held annually to commemorate the occupation in the late 60’s.

    With traditional dancing, rituals, and prayers, the many tribes of Northern California do their part to celebrate their heritage. They stand against what they feel is the tyranny of people who they felt cheated them out of their land many years ago. The sounds of the Miwok singers and the calling out of the names of the original occupiers of Alcatraz, American Indians ushered in a new era of resistance.

Other cops are being punished for simply wearing a badge and wanting to do good in this world. Not all cops are bad. Cops are being threatened and abused all because they take orders and wear a god damn badge. Cops with families and little kids at home all over are being threatened because of a separate incident and even in a different state, is that okay with you?

    1) London, England - Million Mask March, November 05th 2014

    2) Ferguson, Missouri - Protests over the murder of Mike Brown, an unarmed black youth, by police. August-October 2014 (The Brown family have taken their case to the grand jury in Geneva, Switzerland and are awaiting a verdict.)

    3) Belgium - 100,000 march against government austerity measures (protests ongoing.)

    4) Mexico - the Mexican people march to demand answers for the 43 student teachers who went missing on 26th September and have not been seen since. It is believed that corrupt police officers handed the men over to one of Mexico’s many criminal gangs and that they were killed. (Protests ongoing.)

    5) France - protests in France over police brutality after the murder of 21 year old activist Remi Fraisse during a protest against the building of a controversial dam (Protests ongoing.)

    6) Hong Kong - protest for reform of democracy (Protests ongoing.)
