there’s just something about bloodstained 19th century clothing and that something is sexy

dark kate bush throw me down that hill
i'm gonna be real with you guys i do not give a shit about people "stealing" outdoor cats. i don't feel bad for people who let their cat free roam and found out that someone down the block unknowingly took it in because it was neglected enough for them to think it was a stray.
I get so confused with these posts and then I realise, oh. America is a thing. Do Americans really not normally let their cats go outside???? Or have I just seen isolated cases? Cus where I'm from its very normal to let your cat outside? Like, rescues and such will let you know how to acclimatise the cat so they know where to come home to
unless you live somewhere where cats are a non-invasive species, cats do not belong outside free roaming, period. yes it is widely a social norm in the US to let cats outside, just as it is in many places, but this is a BAD norm that results in shortened lifespan, more injury, more disease, and serious environmental degradation. domesticated cats are not wild animals, they are an invasive species in nearly every place they are owned as a pet and their free roaming has caused mass species loss, especially with native songbirds.
the problems caused by outdoor cats or to outdoor cats are not US exclusive.

My favorite thing is listening to people go into extreme detail about some micro-aspect of some hobby they love that I know nothing about.
My mother in law loves bird watching. The other day she told me about how the birder world is ROCKED with controversy about the new Audubon society bird naming conventions, particularly their new guidelines on hyphenation.
My sister in law explained in detail specific qualities to look for that distinguish a good jigsaw puzzle from a bad one.
A friend of mine can talk your ear off about the different forms of cubism in modern art.
This cashier at my local board game store explained to a friend of mine why Hive, a small insect themed strategy game, is amazing but the pill bug expansion breaks the game.
My mom is obsessed with Henry VIII's wives and can not only list them in order, but knows all of their histories and ultimate fates by memory.
Everyone has at least one thing where their scope of knowledge and opinion runs so much deeper than you could ever imagine. Friends and relatives, coworkers and strangers.
For me, it is a lovely little reminder of how unique and strange humanity is. How we are all, deep down, nerdy weirdos.
